    Benny Benny ..

    I had taken the time and gumption : testified before The Committee in the Dail ;

    filled out surveys and produced innumerable submissions ;

    contributed to a university study ; gave interview ..

    Rather broad strokes of that brush you’re wielding !

    If We don’t talk about it , who will ?

    If on the back of a thread like this even just Some people might take the time

    to follow through and fire off some ‘piece of mind’ missives to their

    representatives , some day we Might have some change .

    Why shoot down others’ concern ? X
    I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

    maybe the escorts could get a lend of farmers tractors and slurry tankers and drive to the Dáil in Dublin and create an almighty stink and see what happens

    Ok Steph, point taken, but you will struggle to find any man to put his name and weight behind you. They will all pontificate about what should be done and that includes me but we are not going to tell our Missus/Partner that we am going down to our local T D to try and change the laws on meeting escorts because it would be nice to have some different to do on a Wednesday night rather than watch Coronation street.

    Have many people messaged you privately to lend their support and put their names to the letter, because you are not getting the support on this thread.

    Just wondered what you would all think of bombarding TD's & senators leading up to the review as to the merits of repealing the act and decriminilising the purchase of sexual services ? I know it probably wouldn't make a difference but I thought particularly in light of the publishing of the results of the UL study yesterday. Practically all of the escorts interviewed for the study stated that the legislation was putting their lives in danger and among other recommendations they urged repealing the act and decriminilisation.

    I think we need to support them all and make things safer for everyone.
    Would we have to bombard them with our actual names tho? They’d hardly be interested in false names or deleted user.

    When this bill was first being investigated in the Oireachtas SWAI completely messed up. On the govt side they had ex Irish sex workers who then worked for or represented different charities. It was easy for them to tell their version of everything.

    On the side representing escorts I seem to remember it being represented by two Romanian women who were very prominent on these boards back then. Unfortunately it was very easy for the pro side of the argument to cast them in a bad light.

    Instead SWAI should have put forward a few Irish ladies, or at least Western European.
